Lunch at Le Chapon Fin

Le Chapon Fin

5 Rue Montesquieu, 33000 Bordeaux, France

Le Chapon Fin was founded in 1825, and was one of the first ever three-star restaurants in the world (it was awarded three stars by Michelin in 1933). The restaurant was last renovated in the early 1920s, complete with real rocks and a glass ceiling. The food is delicious, fresh and very Bordeaux in every way... And that's been their culinary style since the start. We went for lunch and ordered from their special lunch menu, starting at only 37€ pp for a starter, main and a dessert.

The starter was a plate of fresh tomatoes and fish carpaccio, my main was lightly seared pollack fillet with slow roasted leek and seaweed, and the dessert was a celebration of apricot.

The cheese plate was something special, and you know it just from getting a glimpse of the incredible cheese cart sitting in the corner of the restaurant. For an extra 16€ we shared the most insane cheese plate ever - only the local stuff. Ashed goat cheeses, delicious basque cheeses, flavorful cream cheeses and the stinkiest of blues.
