Guide: Best Pizza in Tel Aviv

When I first started living in Tel Aviv, I was overwhelmed by all the food I wanted to try. But really good pizza? This ultimate comfort food (for me, at least) was more of a struggle to find. But now, nine years later, I can finally say that the pizza here is good, even very good at times. Here’s my list of the best pizza in Tel Aviv, in no particular order:

Merkhavya St 4

In the heart of the Levinsky area, Lila is a total gem. They have a unique pizza menu and use only fresh, seasonal ingredients. My favorites include the artichoke and kale pizza. But for me, the star is the dough - always perfectly crispy on the edges, with a warm fluffy crust and a solid middle. Delicious, vegan cashew-based cheese is also available.

Brooklyn Pizza

Dizengoff St 276

This is your spot for a quick slice on-the-go (seating is also available). The slices are massive, tasty and always fresh out the oven. It’s also the closest TLV has to a traditional NYC slice. When I go, I always go for whatever is freshest and I always cross my fingers that its the mushroom topped pizza. Vegan cheese and also pizza just topped with loads of veggies (and without cheese).

Shine 38

Shlomo ha-Melekh St 38

Shine is a neighborhood cafe and Italian kitchen right in the heart of the city, from the same owners of Brooklyn Pizza. This cafe has a brick oven and serves up some of the most delicious pizza (in addition to pasta dishes, salads and more). Sit and enjoy your meal in a casual, minimal, welcoming and cozy space.

Beit Romano, Derech Jaffa 9

Sit outdoors listening to live music at one of Tel Aviv’s coolest spots, and enjoy pizza made by one of Israel’s top chefs. That’s basically what Teder has to offer, and it’s great. Located in the old Romano building, you get stop by to take in all that Teder has to offer and grab a slice of pizza for 19 nis (or a pie for 98 nis) - this spot is definitely worth a visit.
