Coffee Guide: Glasgow

Spitfire Espresso

Spitfire Espresso, 127 Candleriggs, Glasgow G1 1NP

Spitfire is one of my favs, and one of the first spots I actually started going to in Glasgow. Now I can’t go to Glasgow without stopping at Spitfire for coffee. They serve a custom blend from Thomson’s Coffee which is one of Glasgow’s oldest coffee roasters and it’s just delicious. If you’re also looking for food, Spitfire also serves sandwiches, soups, and of course, cake.

Papercup, 603 Great Western Road, Glasgow G12 8HX

This trendy and gorgeous spot is all about the coffee. And with their beans roasted right down the street from their great West End cafe, you’re always in for not only a good, but always a fresh cup. Just a tip: If you see the wee carrot cake loaf with the lavender icing - get it (trust me on this!)

Grain and Grind

Grain and Grind, 742 Pollokshaws Rd, Glasgow G41 2AD

One of the best coffee shops in the entire world - yes, I mean it. Formerly known as Southside Roasters, at Grain and Grind, you’re greeted not only with exceptional coffee from great beans (and amazing baked goods, like the pictures cornflakes and milk muffin), but also with incredible service. They now have many blends to choose from, so everyone can find something they love. And last I checked their Instagram, they expanded their food menu and now serve brunch-y items and doughnuts.

Gordon Street Roasters

Gordon Street Roasters, Glasgow Central Station, 79 Gordon St, Glasgow G1 3SQ

Nothing quite like getting off a busy train in Glasgow Central, heading with the rush out towards the Gordon Street exit and boom - smell of freshhhhly roasted coffee. This may not be a cafe to spend lots of time in, but when you’re just starting your day or if you need a quick pick-me-up, this small-batch coffee roaster has got you covered.

The Steamie Coffee Roasters

The Steamie Coffee Roasters, 1024 Argyle St, Glasgow G3 8LX

This lovely little spot is another West End must-visit - The Steamie offers coffee roasted locally in Glasgow and lots of really good food (especially the breakfasts rolls!). My advise: go early and grab your seat, as this spot fills up fast. And when you’re there, you’ll understand why… It really is the perfect spot to meet friends and hang out for a while.
