PFW: Chanel Spring 2016 Ready-To-Wear

Chanel Spring 2016 Ready To Wear by Karl Lagerfeld at Paris Fashion Week

This show is awesome. I watched it unfold live on my computer screen, and I was like "wow. I wish I was there.". And it really takes a lot for a show to make me genuinely wish I left the comfort of my own laptop, to join the hectic yet gorgeous chaos of fashion week (nowadays, with the amazing live streaming of shows).

But here's the thing: when I went back to see the collection one more time, on Vogue Runway, I really had to dig to find looks that I actually liked. No, I can't say I liked the 80's fashion (though I have deep appreciation for the fine and stellar detailing on each garment). And it just gets to this point where Chanel is all about the experience above all. Even if the clothes may not suit everyone's taste, the experience of Chanel is what is being sold. The lifestyle. Even decked in clothes the Fresh Prince would die for.

After addressing my dislike to the clothes, I still admire Chanel as a brand and Karl as the great, leading visionary. And I know I will be secretly (not so secretly) obsessing over the Chanel airlines until next season.

Thoughts on this collection? x

  1. gorgeous clothes! They never disappoint!

  2. The looks you pulled are stunning! But now that you've said many of the looks weren't your favorite, I've gotta check it out and see. I loved the concept of an airport arrivals lounge. Chanel always has the best show experiences.

  3. Absolutely agree with you, Arden! There might be questions about the wearability of those pieces but there are for sure no questions about Karl's visionary view on Chanel.

  4. I quite like the collection, minus the sunglasses :)
