Balenciaga Autumn/Winter 2015 Ready to Wear at Paris Fashion Week
I was very excited when it first broke that Wang was going to take over as creative director at Balenciaga. But he really let me down since day 1- I felt that his Balenciaga collections were just his own Wang collections but in Paris. It was boring to me.
I actually breathed a sign of relief the second I started seeing the Instagrams from this collection hit the web. Alexander Wang has FINALLY hit it at Balenciaga, and from the looks of it, this great new Wang approved Balenciaga girl is here to stay.
First of all, the most diverse cast yet. Bravo, Mr. Wang.
This collection had a lot of what the original Balenciaga was all about: the regal feel, the rich elegance, the clothes made for the modern day empress. The shapes are something special, lots of round shapes which surprisingly don't make the woman wearing it look big, as you'd traditionally think - I love Wang for pushing these stigma out. Loads of pieces came straight out of the archives - the dresses, the coats, the skirts, the shoes even. So fun! But then there were those leather, studded pieces with the leather belts for collars. That was properly Wang, and it was too cool. xx
