Wes Gordon Autumn/Winter 2015 Ready to Wear at New York Fashion Week
Starting with the shoes with this collection - they came in form of perfection aka Manolo Blahnik combat boots. Helllllo, new top-of-wishlist-shoe! It makes so much sense to have such a shoe at a Wes Gordon collection - the elegance meets a bit of a grungy side. I love it.
Wes Gordon is consistently good, a strong NYFW favorite. And he did show his collection among some pretty heavy hitters (in my world) today - Jason Wu, Zimmermann, Cushine et Ochs, Suno - but yet, this nineties romantic collection always seems to take me to the place I want to be in.
The first part of the show featured these amazing coats and some incredible ribwear -lots of blacks, navys, greys. The silhouette was strong and also so elegant.
As the show progressed, the most beautiful floral printed mini dresses came out that were so chic and were such a nice contrast to the opening looks, in addition to the rest of what I'm used to seeing from Wes. There was a lot of glamour and elegance, and it was kept so light and effortless.
Why do I prefer this elegance over the elegance we also saw at Jason Wu yesterday? The elegance here requires no effort whatsoever. No needed layering, tailoring, nor real styling. It's just so easy to look that good. xx
