But if I wasn't dressing up, this look right here is what I'd be wearing.
Casual, comfortable, and still festive.

Have a good one.

2014: The Year In Fashion

Wearable Technology

Wearable fashion is the biggest step into the future the fashion world has ever had.
Do you guys all remember a few years ago, when Diane von Furstenberg sent the models down the runway wearing Google Glass alongside her famous dresses? Well, this year she officially launched her own line of Google Glass frames (sold here). This is HUGE! The fashion world is so right for accepting wearable technology, as it's the rightful home for it.
What's next for wearable tech? It's what we all seem to be asking right now...
Well, I think it's quite clear that it's passed being a fad, and has progressed to a 'trend' status. I think we'll be seeing more of the tech giants at our runway shows in addition to within the collections. Many more brands will follow DvF's steps,by making wearable tech more accessible and also quite stylish. Wearable tech has already become something most of us want to wear, and this want will only grow in the coming year. Read more on the topic here.

Changes

Oh, the changes were often but also great in 2014.
This year had quite a few headlines, and a lot of fresh blood in an array of fashion houses. I think the biggest of them is Ghesquiere's début at Louis Vuitton. We also saw the Jeremy Scott and Moschino love-story unfold with some help from McDonald's; and Jason Wu got the top job at Hugo Boss (major).
We also received news of Peter Copping leaving Nina Ricci for Oscar de la Renta, and then, shortly after, Guillaume Henry left Carven for Nina Ricci.
Oh, and let's not forget that John Galliano is off to Maison Martin Margiela (whattttt). And the latest, Frida Giannini (along with partner and now ex-CEO Patrizio di Marco) left Gucci, leaving us with the only open end to this year of changes: who takes over Gucci? Personally, I'd love to see Christopher Kane there. If not Kane, I'll take Hedi Slimane at Gucci and bring Stefano Pilati back to (Yves) Saint Laurent Paris.

Oscar de la Renta

We lost a legend this past October. Oscar de la Renta was such a talented man, one who will be greatly missed. And in light of his loss, we saw tributes from most all fashion people, see Anna Wintour's and Sarah Jessica Parker's. It's still crazy to think of a world without Oscar designing, and it's funny that I feel this way as I know he's not the only one who designed for his brand in the first place. I guess it's a matter of knowing the one and only is no longer with us, as I've been following his work since I was a kid. I still do dream of wearing an Oscar piece one day!  Read my own tribute to Oscar here.

Kendall Jenner
Kendall Jenner by Patrick Demarchelier for Vogue US December 2014

It's taking quite a lot for me to admit that I actually like Kendall, since it is known I don't love her family too much (and that's me being nice). But where there is talent, I am open to it. I think Kendall is a fantastic model! And yes, her last name is realistically the reason she got her foot in the door, but who cares anymore? She has a strong look, and clothes look amazing on her - oh yes, I find myself wanting almost everything she wears. And that being said, like her or not, she's succeeded as a model and has a right to stay in our fashion world. Looking forward to seeing more of her!

Normcore
photo via
Normcore - how many times have you heard this term this year? I feel like I cant get away from it. And after not being able to put excatly what it means into one sentence, I can still call myself an expert on the subject.  It's wearing actually whateverrrr but in very good taste; simple and possibly baggy jeans, a sweatshirt or basic sweater, and everything else slouchy... A slouchy coat, jacket, scarf, beanie. Whatever. This is me! Day by day. This is what my closet consists of, and this is what I don all the time. (Proof on my Instagram). I love that I'm concidered almost trendy this year{cool-guy-emoji}.
Now think, how many street style photos do we have of women dressed like this? Editors, models included. And here, I will say it: Normcore is the biggest trend of 2014. It will also be carrying us into 2015, or until Anna-Dello-Russo-Giovanna-Battaglia carry us back to the anti-normcore.

I loved this year, and I'm excited for 2015. We really do have a lot to look forward to. xx

FAVORITES: Drugstore Beauty

Ok guys, here I'd like to share my favorite drugstore beauty products... And I actually do use almost all of these products on a daily basis.

I'm not one to wear lipstick from day-to-night, so if this is what you're looking for, I don't think this lipstick is right for you. This is one for those who wear lipstick only when we really have to, and wear it for a few hours. The texture is amazing, the color is just the most beautiful deep red.

2. Garnier - BB Cream, $13.50
Since the rise of the BB cream, I started testing them all. I went through the L'Oreals, the Maybellines, the Cliniques... And here I ended up finding my match with Garnier, a nice surprise especially as it's quite inexpensive and is available even at the supermarket. Since trying this over a year ago, I use this every single day. This provides a really nice 70% coverage, it's soft and light, and helps clear up whatever blemishes I may have and highlights my face without making it oily. Highly recommending this product.

Not much more to say besides that it's simply the best mascara. Ever.

I need whatever I put on my face to last from 8 am until 10 pm, and this is how I succeed at doing just that. (However, touchups are required at least once in the middle.)

I find that most makeup removers dry out my face. These actually moisturize and make makeup removal something so much easier than you'd ever think. Though, I would not recommend using this instead of a cleanser - think of this as the first step in nigh time skin care, not a replacement for your traditional cleanser.

Ok, so I admit that this Clinique concealer has my heart. But unfortunately it's not available in Tel Aviv. After I used every single last drop of my first choice, I came across the Fit Me concealer and I have to say, for it not being my number one, I'm very happy with it. It's very smooth and provides great coverage for both under-eyes and blemishes.

Perfect, spot on. Doesn't wear off. No complaints.

Unlike lipstick, I actually like this because I can eat my lunch and not have to worry about it. No touchups throughout the day. This is the best carefree way to have some color on your lips during the work day. It's easy enough to apply, the felt tip is everything. Love this product.

What are your top drugstore beauty buys? xx

Elizabeth and James Pre-Fall 2015

Elizabeth and James Pre-Fall 2015

The trendier of brands - I always look forward to EandJ's collections. They just get me, and my obsession with minimalism which isn't too minimal and my love for pieces which are wearable season after season. Oh, and they also get how to make blacks go so well together.
Can we please discuss how chic these all black looks are? How all black is suddenly so laid back looking, and as usual, so slimming. It's all black with an easy bohemian touch - that bohemian touch which MK&A do best.
This collection also has a very uniform feel to it. I also love the turtlenecks which have officially made a huge comeback in my life. It's very chic. IMO.
One this I don't fancy too much are the shoes - those Adidas Stan Smiths (are they the official shoes in this collection? Could I please have this confirmed?) are not my favorite of shoes. And I know they have become a huge trend right now, and I do respect that. It's just not my thing. So, if you don't mind, I think I'll wear this whole gorgeous, cool, and relaxed collections paired with last season's pointed flats and boots. xx

GET THE LOOK: for warmer days

I LOVE this shot of Veronika Heilbrunner in Milan - found while browsing here
Me, sitting here in my double sweater, thick jeans, and leather boots. And then this picture comes along, and I'm like @#$%^. Guys, I really can't wait for springtime. Even throughout the currently gorgeous Tel Aviv winter. Spring is always so exciting.

Let's all vow to start styling simple tees with fun jeans and colorful bags, just for spring? Yes.

Here's how to get this look:

Band of Outsiders Pre-Fall 2015

Bank of Outsiders Pre-Fall 2015

"How do you make it not summer, but not fall?" - this is the opening quote via WWD's review of the collection, said by Band's designer Scott Sternberg. And it hit me, I mean, duh. How does one really make it not summer and also not fall? What is pre-fall anyways?

I can firstly answer this question personally: pre-fall is the best season there is. It's the beauty of summer - beach days, sunshine - along with the better things about fall - the cool breeze breaking the heat, the beautiful sunsets - all before it gets too cold to enjoy. It's the perfect sweater weather! Sweaters worn with bare legs. Cuffed hems. Healed sandals. Cropped printed suits. Light denim.

This collection summed it all up quite nicely now, don't you think? This collection is quite groovy, quite fun, light, happy. I tend to often state "this is what I'll be wearing come {enter season here}" but here realistically this is what I will actually wear. The most similar of pieces are in my closet - the sweaters, the jeans, the blazers... And I LOVE that this collection succeeded in inspiring me with what I already have. It's an awesome feeling.
Negative side is that I won't be actually shopping Band of Outsiders for that very reason (not that I have all the money in the world for it anyways, but you know). What's missing is my desire to have these very exact pieces in my life. But oh well, it's beautiful nonetheless. It's all perfectly done. xx
