NYFW - Marissa Webb SS15 RTW
Marissa Webb Spring/Summer 2015 Ready-To-Wear
Here's what I think: Marissa Webb is New York's answer to Isabel Marant.
And I also think this is the biggest compliment Marissa Webb will ever get.
This collection is quite a boyish collection with the tailored pieces, the oversized jackets. But I also think this is Marissa showing us how well she can reinvent some of the classics, like the printed loose mini-dress. This collection screams "coolest girl in town", with those cut out booties, and with the hair as it is, and the make-up properly smoky. The metallic tweeds and the bright moto-jackets. Oh-so-cool, and also oh-so-exactly what I'd say about a Marant collection.
As we know, Marissa is the new creative director of Banana Republic. That being said, I can see this collection very suited to BR (or at least to the BR customer) and this excites me. I haven't stepped foot in a BR store in a very, very long time due to that I thought the clothes were always quite old. I'm happy to say I'll be visiting BR during my next trip back in the States (January!), primarily because this collection has inspired me to. Or maybe I'm just getting old.
Regardless, major success to both Marissa and BR on that front. xx
