2013

Weirdly, I have always associated the view of Paris that includes the Eiffel with what I want to think is uplifting and optimistic. Therefore, this Tumblr photo is the one I leave you with for 2012. Uplifting, optimism -> 2013.

I think that for those of us who follow the magazines, the year may seem to go by faster. For example, us fashion-magaziners are starting February already. And maybe that's why December always seems to come by too soon... But also, it's important for us to remember that when time seems to fly, it only means that we've been having fun. And looking back, hell yes, this year was a blast. In my personal life, but in fashion too! I mean, the whole designer switch-ups (Raf for Dior, Hedi for SLP, and now Wang for Balenciaga). We also had the re-rise of the Kate Moss, which still is amazing to watch. We had the Choupette obsession, along with all of Chanel's remarkable shows. Oh, can't forget the escalators at Louis Vuitton nor the high fashion debut of Kate Upton. Cara D's complete takeover. Grace Coddington's i-D cover. Emma Stone's red carpet perfection. Khaleesi and the Dothraki chic. Phillip Lim's handbags being the most wanted and worn piece, like, ever. The Russian fashionistas taking over the Parisian streets. And the list goes on, and on, and on...

See? It really has been one hell of a year. It also leaves a lot of unanswered questions too, which is exciting as 2013 is just about officially here.

I want to take this chance and say how grateful I am to be where I am at this point in my life. No, I'm not in head to toe Proenza, walking the streets of New York City like I totally wish I was, but still. I'm happy. And I want to say thanks to everyone in my life now, for being so totally awesome. I want to thank all of my readers, for being so totally awesome too. And quickly before this gets all award speech-y, I want to wish you all the best in 2013. May there be peace, love, happiness, opportunities, and success' for all.

Cheers,
Arden xx

Covers of 2012

Part 1. Cara Delevingne - Joan Smalls was officially rated top model of 2012 but I beg to differ. Cara had the year of her life, with all of the runways she's walked, and the covers she's covered. Here are my favorites.

Saint Laurent Paris SS13 Campaign

(ps: thefashionspot.com)
Hedi Slimane's YSL, or should I say, Saint Laurent Paris takeover. Easily one of the greatest, and also most memorable moments of fashion in 2012. And here is the first every Hedi/SLP campaign, shot by the man himself. Thoughts?
I love this, of course. So dark, so mysterious. It's what I've always admired in Hedi's photography, and in his designs. xx

As usual, I'm bouncing back and forth between looks - the bright lip or the bold eye?
Ah, if only it looked good having them both. xx

If someone out there actually is not familiar with Elin's blog (please click here), then where on earth have you been?!
Just a quick update on my style icon. Who works cold-weather-wear so well.
Since I'm off to (hopefully) see some snow this weekend, I am finding this quite helpful.

Enjoy your weekend! xx

Well, well, well... This is the first time in my life that I'm wishing for towels and a tea kettle for the holidays. Instead of wishing for shoes. Cheers to growing up, eh?

The board, the board! The only thing I want more than the board right now is some warm weather and some killer waves.

I've previously posted a bit from Chanel's SS03 campaign, featuring the boards (here), and you can find more about them and how to purchase one here (did you get that, Santa?)

Happy Friday! xx

Chanel Pre-Fall 2013

Yes to romance, yes to cozy chic, yes to Scotland! Oh, Karl killed it (duh) this season by taking us on a Scottish adventure, Linlithgow Palace to be exact, and now all I want in my life is some cozy plaids and romantic ruffles... xx

Swimwear in the Winter

(ps: thefashionspot)

Anne V by Paolo Vainer for Harper's Bazaar Brasil December 2012

Ok, I realize that there are countries who currently are celebrating summer - Brasil among them. But I'm sitting here, practically shivering even though I have the heat on as well as a fleece robe, and I just feel the need to express my jealously. I miss you, summer! And I know I always complain when it's too hot, blah blah blah.. But this cold is killing me. Then the Brazilian issues come out, giving us major hottie Anne V showing off the latest swimwear. Oh, and it makes me so sad.

But on another note, I love this editorial for being swimsuit and very editorial. Not the usual sexy bombshell like Anne V tends to do. I love how the hair and makeup is very sporty and toned down, I also love Anne's poses. And the way this was photographed in such a straightforward way. It's really refreshing, and reminds me that sporty chic is still very relevant (at least, in my head it is). Very well done, HB Brasil. xx
