All About Lips

(ps: style.com)

Aw now, enough with the smoky eye and bold black liner. Let's celebrate the lips, for a change.
At Burberry, Dries, Missoni, and at Prada - the lip celebration was simply done. Will you be cranking out the bold lip colors come spring? xx

wishlist - celebrating fall with Proenza Schouler

1. fleece sweatshirt (via The Corner, here)
2. long sleeve print top (via mytheresa, here)
3. aysemmetric leather-coated woven cotton jacket (via Pinterest, here)
4. print wrap skirt (via mytheresa, here)
5. leather trimmed scuba jersey wrap skirt (via Net-A-Porter, here)
6. woven leather skirt (via The Corner, here)
7. chieko woven leather clutch (via Net-A-Porter, here)
8. leather short boot with buckle (via Savannah's, here)
9. ps1 medium python satchel (via ssense, here)

I think we're almost all going through that amazing period of the year when you're able to wear a coat with a short skirt - no tights. Yes? Well, I'm currently there and LOVING it.
On that note, it is to my taste that Proenza does some of the best skirts and long sleeved tops. And coats. And shoes. And bags. So I just really wanted to share some of my most wanted Proenza pieces for fall. I hope you enjoy!

For the record, this post is not in any way sponcered by Proenza Schouler. I'm just a huge fan... xx

Monday, October 29, 2012

When the rumors of the Maison Martin Margiela + H&M collab started of course I was very excited, but in the back of my mind it was like "this will only be pretty for the eyes, not on my body". I just want to quickly say how impressed I am with this collection, not only is it beautiful - as predicted - but I can actually see myself wearing quite a few of the pieces (jackets from first and second photos are soooo mine). Yes, I will be braving the line when this collection hits stores. Just like with the Lanvin collab from a while back, I simply LOVE when designers go the "H&M" route but stay so true to the style of the actual high fashion brand they design for. I don't think that every collab works (wasn't a fan of Versace x H&M, for example) but when it actually does work - it works indeed, as so perfectly demonstrated  for us here in this very lookbook. Thoughts on this collection?

Morning Beauty

(ps: thefashionspot)
Anja Rubik by David Bellemere for Vogue Paris November 2012

Just a quick post before I leave for work - I wanted to post something beautiful for you all today.
My daily wake up time has gone from 9:30am to 4:30am this past month, and I want to sit here and complain about how annoying it is but instead I'm telling you how amazing it is to have discovered the sunrise. Watching the sun rise every morning is quite special, and if you ever have the chance - do it. xx

Sur La Route

(ps: thefashionspot)
Anna Selezneva by Lachlan Bailey for Vogue Paris November 2012
Styled by Geraldine Saglio

There is some major bad ass chic going on right now, which in my opinion is the new trademark French style (thanks to la french voguettes). Thoughts? xx

wishlist - color on the bottom

1. 3.1 Phillip Lim - wool pullover (via mytheresa, here)
2. 3.1 Phillip Lim - sequin accented knit pullover (via mytheresa, here)
3. Versace - flared wool mini skirt (via Net-A-Porter, here)
4. Thakoon - wool blend crepe skirt (via Net-A-Porter, here)
5. Reed Krakoff - 'burnished bridle' bag (via farfetch, here)
6. Saint Laurent Paris - classic tuxedo pump (via YSL.com, here)

Ah, it's so easy to just throw on a black pencil skirt and walla - ready for work. But sometimes color is good, and sometimes volume is more fun. So here are some ideas I had for ways to add some of those two details, while still looking work appropriate. The Versace and the Thakoon numbers are both skirts I could see myself wearing forever, would they be mine, and I'm on the hunt for some inexpensive alliteratives...  Any ideas on where I should look? xx

Fall Colors

(ps: vogue.ru)
Maria Bradley by Ben Toms for Vogue Russia November 2012

I feel like since living in a country that actually has a fall/winter season, I've come to appreciate it all. The idea of (faux) fur, leather gloves, full suits, and big hats is divine. Make them all in deep purples, greens, bordeaux, oxblood, midnight blue, black and you've got perfection. xx

The New Girl

(ps: vogue.com)
Kate Upton by Steven Meisel for Vogue US November 2012

Let's talk Upton, shall we?
I've never hated her, but I haven't exactly been her biggest fan either. Kate Upton is a beautiful woman, whom I thought would never make it past GQ. And when I heard rumors of Kate being photographed for my beloved Vogue, I can't say that I was excited. However, maybe all it took was Steven Meisel. And maybe all I needed was to see her in Vogue to actually believe it could be good. Because it's good, real good.

I do believe this editorial is Vogue showing us that they aren't all talk - that they really can do healthy bodies in their magazine. One can argue that there is still Photoshop going on, which I am not denying. But as someone who's body type is much closer to Kate's than to Karlie's and Caroline's, and as someone who is busty and not always proud of it, because of the way clothes sometimes look on me - I say thanks to Vogue, and I hope they keep this up. I would love to see more. xx

Wishlist - THE trench

By now we all must have seen the phenomenon that is Burberry's Spring/Summer 2013 collection, and just in case you haven't - here & here. The whole collection is to die for, but the finale and those trenches completely stole the show. The models just came out in these great metallic, bold colored trench coats - trust  me when I say that it's the total definition of eye candy, to say the least.

These trenches are definately on my current wishlist, and they are available via Burberry.
Yeah, they are a bit on the pricey side, but it's good to dream... In fact, my new doctor friend *shoutout* actually says that dreaming is healthy for the soul. xx

Pringle of Scotland

(ps: style.com)

I admit to skipping through a lot of this past resort season, because it just came at a busy time for me and I just don't even know anymore - excuses, excuses, excuses. And while casually browsing style.come I come to find this amazing collection from Pringle and I just can't help but feel horrible for not having seen this before!
Ah! I love this so much! Proper cool, just enough shape and laid back sophistication. Please don't even get me started on those shoes. A resort favorite, for sure. xx

Wishlist

So, you've probably heard the drama about who first paired the peplum with the cigarette pant...
Was it Oscar de la Renta? Was it Raf Simons? Cathy Horyn says this... and they say that... *sigh*
The only thing I can agree with is that whoever was first is an actual genius, so I suppose I don't blame any of the men who take credit.

A peplum and a skinny is a look I have been loving to wear, and if I could afford all that is Lim and Kenzo, here are my choices (with shoes to go with them, of course):

1. 3.1 Phillip Lim - belted satin-twill peplum top (via Net-A-Porter, here)
2. Kenzo - embroidered silk-organza peplum top (via Net-A-Porter, here)
3. Dolce&Gabbana - satin trim tuxedo pants (via Net-A-Porter, here)
4. A.P.C - cropped wool-flannel skinny pants (via Net-A-Porter, here)
5. Valentino - pumps (via Colette.fr, here)
6. 3.1 Phillip Lim - delia patent-leathermonk-strap ankle boots (via Net-AP-Porter, here)
