Boy Meets Girl

Kendra Spears by Knoepfel & Indlekofer for Vogue Paris October 2012
Styled by Capucine Safyurtlu

I've just got this issue in my life and I've just gotta say - this is some of my favorite styling work in a while.
It's also my inspiration for this weekend, as I'll be dressing in trench coats, big knits, great denim... And I'll be sure to bring my aviators too.

Wishing you all a lovely weekend - xx

Kenzo Accessories

(ps: thefashionspot)
Xiao Wen Ju & Simon Sabbah by Frederik Heyman for Kenzo Accessories

No secret that the Kenzo kids have been killing it lately. I mean, those jumpers are on every girl and guy in the city. The Kenzo takeover continues with this campaign for their accessory line. The use of fantasy here is incredible. Photographer Frederik Heyman (just Google him, I dare you...) is the perfect fit, as are the models. Everything is mindblowing. And all I want is some Kenzo prints in my life. xx

One of my idols, Grace, is wearing Celine and is looking like the most vibrantly beautiful woman ever... I'll say it once more now - I NEED THIS. xx

wishlist - homey things

1. Jonathan Adler - utopia queen vase (via)
2. Crate & Barrel - lounge chair and a half (via)
3. Missoni Home - homer hooded cotton terry robe (via)
4. Witchery - mini candle set (via)
5. LSA - black cylinder bouquet vase (via) - I would fill this with my favorite pink tulips
6. Detroit Bicycle Company - bespoke jefferson avenue bike (via)
7. Prada - infusion d'iris eau de parfum (via)

It's easy to think of what your home is missing when you're stuck inside with the flu. It's also easy to think about things that would make your life more comfortable, at home and in general. Therefore, my little list of comfort things:
Ok, the two vases are not really going to make my life more confortable... But they are just beautiful, especially the Jonathan Adler vase. However, the robe..... Missoni robes are a kind of perfection, but you learn it once you put one on. I have put one on and that's why I can confirm it's perfection, but still haven't found an extra $200-$300 lying around especially for a bathrobe. All I know is when I finish my studies, and when that sum on money actually does magically appear in my wallet, this is in my top 5 of classic must haves. The bike is on the list because I live and work in an area where I could easily get around by bike, like many other people do around me. When you're sick, it's also easy to think about ways you could keep yourself healthier and in better shape - this is something that could do both for me.
Number 7 on this list, the Prada fragrance, is a new love in my life. I think I've found what I thought was my signature scent maybe 4 times in my life, so far. It's almost like searching for love for me... This Prada scent is the newest scent on my list. It could be my number 5, or it could be the One. I'll keep you posted though.

Anyways, hope you're all well... Thanks for all the get well wishes too, I swear they're helping ;) xx

New In

Let's start with the nail products - (from left to right)
1. Essie - 'skirting the issue' (here), this color is divine. The photo here simply doesn't do it justice.
2. Essie - 'no chips ahead' topcoat (here), I'm basically looking for a cheaper alternative to Dior's topcoat. I haven't actually tried this Essie topcoat yet, but I've heard some good reviews. Will let you know how it gets on.
3. MAC - 'undercover nude' by Carine Roitfeld (here), again this photo doesn't do the color justice. The color is perfection, so easy and light. I'm so glad I caught this before it sold out!
4. MAC - 'russian red' (here), this is actually a re-buy. This is the most perfect red ever. At least for my own skin tone...

And now, the magazines -
1. L'Officiel Italia September 2012 (a surprise favorite. A strong issue, good for anyone's collection)
2. CR Fashion book FW12 (took me forever to track down - so worth it!)
3. Vogue Italia January 2012 (a weird cover, but it's the amazing kinda weird. I love it.)
4. Vogue Italia February 2012 (a favorite cover, was so happy to find it randomly. Couldn't say no)
5. Vogue Paris February 2012 (well, I found it ON SALE. One does not say no to VP on sale. The issue is gorgeous as well)

I usually buy one or two magazines per month... Five is a lot for me, believe it or not. but I am just so pleased, especially with L'Officiel Italia - truly one of the best magazines in my collection.

Anyways, sorry for being quite MIA. I've been battling the flu (yay, winter -__-).
And with Thanksgiving being in the air, still, I want to take this opportunity to say thank you to you all. I mean, you come back to my blog time and time again, you leave your opinions and drop some beautiful words, and I still can't get over how absolutely amazing that is. Coming home from college and work late at night, signing on and reading your comments and your own blogs is truly the highlight of my day. So, thanks! Hope you all had a good Thanksgiving, black Friday (what did you get?!?), and a good weekend. Oh, and stay healthy this winter ;) xx

wishlist - comfort clothes

1. Comme des Garcons Play - emblem stripe tee (via)
2. Rag & bone - floppy brim fedora (via)
3. Proenza Schouler - ps1 large, saddle (via)
4. Ray-ban - clubmaster, black (via)
5. H&M - ballet flats, black (via)
6. Current/Elliot - the jean legging, mid rise, black (via)

This evening I spoke to a lovely woman on the train. As the conversation went on, she stated that she doesn't like fashion and asked me what I love so much about it. I explained how for me, it simply could not be explained. It's a natural gravitation I've had since forever, and then I asked her why she doesn't seem like fashion one bit. I mean, to each their own, but fashion is something pretty much everyone deals with on a daily bases. You don't have to be really interested, but how can you simply not like it?
Her point was this - she felt as though she tried so hard but could never come up with clothes that were comfortable, fit her personal style, and were trendy. And she was just over it.
Her answer still has me thinking. Because it was obvious that she had at least some taste, and she was reading the fashion section of the paper so she must know what's up in our world. And then I came up with this little wishlist here.
Casual-comfortable-chic is a thing, and it's becoming more acceptable in the high fashion world. Take a look at Emmanuelle Alt and her fellow French Voguettes (ugh, I know. I'm such a fangirl). They walk from show to show in Paris dressed in dark jeans and loose blouses. Is that not totally easy, and very chic?
Anyways, here's my wishlist. Striped tee, black (legging!) jeans, the everyday bag, the everyday sunnies, a big hat only because it's sunny winter season aka perfect wool hat weather... And most importantly - the black flat. Seriously, the shoe that goes with every single piece in my closet ever.
Perfect for me, casual enough, most definitely comfortable, and quite chic if I don't say so myself....

Thoughts? What does your casual and comfy chic look consist of? xx

oriental tales

(ps: thefashionspot)
Liu Wen by Karim Sadli for Vogue China December 2012

This editorial really sums up the incredible Asian adventure that the fashion world has been taking us on, an adventure that has been constantly inspiring me... xx

Photos shot by Annie Leibowitz, ps:

It's as though Anne herself is screaming at the top of her lungs exactly what we all are on this lovely day - "WEEEEKENNNNNDD ahhhrhhahahha".

YES. I have been counting down the seconds in anticipation for this weekend. There is nothing special going on, which is what makes it all the better. I can watch a film, I can do my nails, I can sleep!! Luxuries, since the new work+studies season began.

On another note, this Anne Hathaway story for Vogue's December issue (along with a cover, here) is very refreshing. I am a big fan of Anne's work (I loved it all, from the Princess Diaries to Catwoman), and this comes in time for 'Les Miserables' which is 100% for sure going to be incredible. I mean, with that cast and an already perfect story how can it not be amazing? The photos in this spread truly fit the icon that Anne has become, and are very reminiscent to another short-haired icon who happened to have stared and sung in the timeless 'Sound of Music'... Anyone?

Anyways, enjoy your weekend! Let off some stream! And, um, relax with Vogue's November issue!! (just me trying to connect everything in this post - which is in no way sponcered by Vogue). Love you all. xx

wishlist - office space

1. White tulips, though I'd rather them pink (via Google)
2. Jonathan Adler - cubes throw (via)
3. Grove - sliding bookcase  (via)
4. Jonathan Adler - bergman bench (via)
5. Apple - iMac (via)
6. Diptyque - Volutes Eau De Toilette (via)
7. Diptyque - Roses Mini Scented Candle 70g (via)

And the final piece to complete this wishlist is an actual office space... One that's not too big, and not too small. One that will have a nice window, and have wall space to hang some art. And most importantly, I need a space that is not in any way attached to my bedroom whatsoever! It's literally impossible to get anything done when I'm so tired, and my bed is like two feet away.

Is that too much to ask?

Anyways, I already have a fantastic desk, chair, and lighting.
I keep my vast magazine collection in a cheap Ikea bookcase until I find something a bit more sturdy, like this one here. That way I could have them on display as a sort of highlight in my space, also having them quickly available for references. And the rest are just luxuries, really.

How is your office space like? xx

Art in the Eyes of an Artist

(ps: JAK & JIL)

Proenza Schouler's Fall 2012 collection shot by the amazing Tommy Ton for his blog, JAK&JIL (linked)...

Let me tell ya', being subscribed to JAK&JIL is such a treat. Yeah sure, there are sometimes quite long periods where nothing gets posted, but you always know Tommy is up to something good which makes it totally worth it.

As you can probably already tell from my more recent posts - Proenza's FW12 collection is pure divinity. I'm obsessed. The textiles, the silhouettes. I'm simply not going to get into it, since I'll probably end up sitting here for like 4 hours raving about everything from the shoes to the thread used in the jackets...
Tommy uses that lens of his, which I'm convinced is dusted with faily magic or something of the sort, makes everything seem brand new again. These great photos that came up in my JAK&JIL superscription feed today made me fall in love with this already adored collection all over again. Thank you, Tommy. xx
