3.1 Phillip Lim SS13 RTW

3.1 Phillip Lim Spring/Summer 2012 RTW

Please excuse the length of this post. I really did try to edit it down a bit and only post my favorite looks, but it's not really my fault that I absolutely love 99.999% of the collection - it's Phillip Lim's fault, it's all on him!

Like pretty much every single Lim collection, this one brings me to a happy place. We have been seeing quite a bit of 90's grunge on the runways, but Lim confirms it as a major NYFW trend this season. I just love how Lim did this collection so that without question it's very grungy, but it's still so appropriate for the classic Lim girl. A good example of how he did this is with the sheer plaids which is simply genius - you typically associate plaids with heavy and being all lumberjack-esque, but here they look so light and gorgeous. More standouts are the patchwork jean pieces. I had jeans that looked SO similar when I was a kid, and whenever I looked back at photos with me wearing them I would be like 'urgh, what am I wearing??!?' - but I can always count on Lim to make me love and want a piece similar to one that I used to hate...
And the part I love most are those 'I love Nueva York' tees. Especially today, on September 11th, they seem very right. Over all, this is the best collection from NYFW so far. Not too sure it can be topped too. But yes, I do also happen to be a philliplimoholic, as mentioned a few posts ago.
Always looking forward to your thoughts! xx

I just lit a candle for those 2996 innocent people who lost their lives on this day 11 years ago, and I'm keeping NYC in my heart and thoughts today more than ever. Let us always remember what happened, and still move forward - we still have a long ass way to go. RIP.

  5. Yeah, there's no denying it, this collection is wicked cool - The mix of 90's grunge with something as feminine as florals and sheer fabrics makes everything edgy and interesting. I dig it. I dig all of it!

  9. i didn't really think the plaid was that cool until you mentioned how it's the opposite of what it usually is- all heavy and thick. i really love this collection too- especially the sheer patterns and all the pattern on pattern action!
