Met Ball 2012

(ps: tlfan)

I did not watch the live streaming of the red carpet (living in a very different time zone and all) but I did wake up extra early to check out these photos before I leave to study. I am very impressed with this year, and I think the Prada/Schiaparelli influence got to our leading ladies, making them choose their dresses wisely, with a fashion head on their shoulders (unlike last year).

A quick summary: the ladies in Prada are my best dressed (Carey Mulligan, Kate Bosworth, Gwyneth Paltrow) and the ladies in Givenchy by Riccarco Tisci are a close second (Gisele Bundchen, Rooney Mara). My big surprise is Candice Swanepoel in Rag & Bone - I wasn't sure the boys had a Met Ball gown in them, but they did and it is gorgeous.

Lana Del Ray, who wore Altuzarra, could have lost the cape. And a usual favorite combo, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley in Burberry, could have had her hair down - as her high bun looks a bit too uptight.
However, I did have to look hard to find these little critiques. Overall, this was such a beautiful red carpet.
Now, if only I could get to NYC to see this exhibit... Who will be going?
And who is on your best dressed list? xx

  18. gwyneth had a little bit too much side boob action happening in that dress for me to really dig it.
lovvveeeed carey mulligan, out of all the metallic trending going on she is the one who nailed it the most without looking like a cyborg.
