Photographs by David Sims for Vogue Paris March 2005
In 2005, the girls were just fresh faces. Now they are the faces of a lot that is fashion.
Since the second these girls came into the industry, it is suddenly so hard to imagine the runways without their walks and the magazines without their faces shining through. And how weird is it imagining different girls in their places.... Just think, what would Michael Kors be without Carmen Kass? Calvin Klein without Natalia? Vogue US without Liya and Daria? Victoria's Secret without Doutzen and Gisele? These are some of the most iconic model + brand relationships to me, those printed ads and editorials are those that still are tacked up on my fashion board. It is sometimes a bit funny, and weird, seeing these girls as fresh faces, but everyone has to start somewhere.
